Excitement at Luton

Sitting in the departure lounge at Luton when these alarms sound and a recorded voice. “please evacuate the building”.

No one moved for for a while, but slowly people started to walk towards the fire exits. Then everyone was turned away from the fire exits, I think the staff were trying to keep everyone airside.

It took a while to get outside and then the fire engines arrived.

We stood outside for about 10 minutes, the fire engines left and we were all invited in again.

At least it killed some time.

It was an easy passage through airport security. My non metallic shoes and underpants worked well.

Now I have a 2 hour wait before boarding.

Sitting on park and ride bus, Luton airport at 3:19am.

Everything going to plan at the moment although I will have an hour wait before the checkin opens.

Voulez Vous

A year or two ago I discovered that my favourite show, Voulez Vous, was no more. Looking through the Eastbourne theatre guide which came today, I saw that they are appearing in Eastbourne in September. Yay!

Their old website still says “Thanks for all the fish”, but I then found a new website Voulez Vous Tribute. It looks like some of the team have decided to start up again, I will keep you informed.

Dead fish

I arrived home to find a large dead fish on my path. It’s a complete fish, only slightly decomposed. Weird!

Concorde

I am trying to get to Brooklands but my SatNav could not contact HQ. I have driven to Hickstead LC blind, but even had trouble doing that. I doubt if I can find Brooklands on my own.

After my Olympic if the SatNav still fails I may just go home.

Missed train

The second leg of my journey was a replacement bus service. Unfortunately the ticket seller seems to have underestimated the time to do the journey. The expected 20 minutes took 40 minutes.

I missed my connection by five minutes, now I am stuck at the station for another hour.

Also the first leg, I had a reserved seat. But something had gone wrong and none of the reservations had been displayed. There was an announcement that they would fix it after the next stop but I was only going one stop.

I had to search three carriages before I found a seat.
